3D Laser Scanning a Land Rover Defender 2020

The Land Rover Defender 2020 is a very beautiful vehicle and we 3D laser scanned it to get exact measurements for an accessory maker. The customer makes off-road accessories like bumpers, sliders, bull bars and much more. We 3D laser scanned it not just for the exterior body parts, but we did a partial disassembly so we can also get all the mounting points for the new accessory bumpers. This data may also be used in the future for reverse engineering the bodywork, in order to make replacement parts. They will also use this data to automate their manufacturing process and also for the QC/Inspection process.

We 3D laser scanned the Land Rover Defender in Bangkok, Thailand. We used a Creaform Metra scanner, Creaform C-Track system, and Creaform VXElements software. We processed the data in 3D Systems Geomagic Wrap and 3D Systems Geomagic DesignX, and finish with some 2D drawing in Dassault Systems SolidWorks.
